Missy was heading out one day, and there was an elderly gentleman who appeared to be struggling at the elevator and looked a little lost. Missy asked him if he was alright and if he needed any help. He then told Missy, "No I am not alright. I was just discharged from the hospital, and now my wife has been admitted, and she is not good. They are putting her on a ventilator." Missy asked him where he was going, and he said he was looking for the cafeteria. Missy escorted him to the cafeteria and listened to him and his concerns for his wife. Missy then asked this gentleman if she could buy his supper. He didn't want her to at first, but she insisted, and then made sure he was seated and comfortable in the cafeteria. Before leaving, she asked if there was anything else that she could do for this gentleman, and he just thanked her over and over for being so kind. Little did he know, he did more for her in those few moments than she did for him. Missy said he just touched her soul, listening to him and his recent struggles, she felt lucky to help. She truly cares about all of our patients and their loved ones.
