The Operating Room led by Missy Barroso, BSN, RN, and the entire OR team should be recognized for their outstanding teamwork towards managing the "gown crisis". Daily, for approximately 5 weeks, the OR team worked tirelessly to prepare surgical packs (instruments and supplies) with individual items for each surgical case during a time where the sterility of the gowns was in question. At times there were over 100 items per case that needed to be pulled separately to create a new surgical pack for an operation. This work included every RN and Scrub Tech from the OR to work as a team to ensure surgeries could continue without any interruptions in care or quality. During the entire "gown crisis", not one case was canceled! Patients were able to have the surgeries they needed and surgeons were able to operate at full efficiency and safety. This is truly a team that deserves recognition.
