From the first day of my admission to Prince Sultan Cardiac Center, Mishal was one of few people from the nursing staff who got to know me personally and became my friend.
I was most of the time alone in the hospital, but Mishal used to stay and spend time with me talking.
He allowed me to express my feelings, I would tell him about my longing for my mother and my family with tears in my eyes, he would comfort me and share his feelings about his family too.
Mishal has always visited me even when he had other patients to take care of and was busy with his work. We would strike up a conversation, we would laugh and then he would go back to his work. As simple as it may sound, it meant so much to me.
He was constantly communicating with my father, telling him about my condition, explaining to him, reassuring him, and telling him my progress.
When I had my heart transplant surgery, Mishal was in continuous communication with my mother and reassuring her about me and my needs because I did not have a cell phone with me at the time.
After the heart surgery, I was placed for some time in an isolation room and had episodes of depression and extreme sadness. I would constantly cry and even hid in the bathroom crying, but Mishal noticed.Mishal encouraged me and taught me to be patient and helped me to get out of the depression stage. He even bought me a gift for the occasion of my successful operation, and on the day of my discharge, he came to say goodbye.
During the COVID-19 crisis, I returned back to the hospital and was admitted, my swab result was positive, and Mishal was with me during that time, anything I needed he would help me with even if he was not the nurse responsible for me, even when the needs are not basic, such as I gave the nurse money to send someone to buy some things for me. An hour later Mishal came with bags of things like I wanted all for me! When I asked Mishal about the money, he said it's a gift from him.
Even after a year has passed since I met Mishal, every time that I am admitted to the hospital, as soon as he knows I am in the hospital, he would come to see me, calm me about my condition, even when I am admitted in another ward.
For me; Mishal is not just a nurse who took care of me; Mishal is a very close friend and a person whom I am very much grateful for his presence in my life and I will continue to pray for him throughout my life for his kindness and good heart.
I will never forget him.
