Miranda took such amazing care of our little boy while he was in the NICU at St. Francis. When he was born, we were unaware that anything would be out of the ordinary. I was over 40 weeks pregnant when I had him, and my pregnancy had been wonderful with zero red flags. He was our 3rd baby, and we hadn't spent any time in the NICU with our first two children, so we were extremely out of our element. Miranda not only took amazing care of our sweet boy but was a constant source of comfort my husband and me as well.
When we decided to transfer him to another hospital, Miranda was a steady and comforting presence as I came to grips with the scary possibilities that were in front of us. She made me feel like not only was she taking amazing care of my baby (who obviously loved her, too), but that she was my friend.
He was ultimately diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder and passed away when he was a few weeks old. She was so kind as to check in with me before and after his passing, even attending his memorial service. I was blown away and SO incredibly happy to see her. Aside from our family, the nurses who took care of him knew him best, and it meant the world to see someone who had spent meaningful time with our son and who had taken such exceptional care of him on that day.
I've maintained contact with Miranda ever since leaving St. Francis that day, and hope to always have her in my life. She will always hold an extremely special place in my heart.
