I don't think I can even put into words what having Miranda as my nurse meant to me! My husband and I found out at our 20-week ultrasounds that our little girl had anencephaly, and incompatible with life condition. We decided to carry our little girl to full term in hopes of being able to meet her and love on her no matter how short of a life she might live. Dr. P's office put us in contact with Miranda before our induction date was set and Miranda came to meet my husband and me at our house on her own time. She was so caring and compassionate during our visit, and I knew instantly I needed her as my nurse during our delivery.
During our visit, Miranda was able to answer many of our questions regarding what to expect at the hospital (as this was our first child and I did not have the strength to sit through a birthing class knowing our outcome). Miranda also provided us with infant loss resources and gave us some amazing suggestions of things we could bring to the hospital and do with our little girl to remember her. While I knew the ultimate outcome for my daughter, there were so many unknowns about our journey making my induction a very overwhelming process and one that I am certain would not have been the positive experience we had without Miranda and her smiling face.
Having walked in very similar shoes years before, Miranda knew exactly what to say and what to do to help my husband and I navigate our emotions and decisions during our stay. I looked to her and greatly valued her medical advice and suggestions, as both an amazing clinician but also as a, now dear friend. Miranda somehow knew when I was feeling overwhelmed and was right by my side to hold my hand and hug me as I cried. Not only did she take such amazing care of me, but she also took exceptional care of our little girl for the almost 11 amazing hours that God gave us with our little miracle.
Miranda stayed at the hospital around the clock during my labor to be there in case we needed her and stayed past her shift to help my husband and I give our sweet angel a bath, take more pictures, and collect keepsakes that we will forever cherish. During my daughter's final moments, Miranda stayed with my husband and myself and our little girl and prayed with us, which is a gesture that I will never be able to thank her enough for! Miranda truly is an angel sent from heaven to help families like mine going through this most unbearable type of loss. She is an excellent clinician with an absolutely amazing heart!
