We would like to thank our nurse, Milan Kimberly, from the St. David's North Austin Medical Center NICU.
Our daughter was born prematurely. From the moment that the doctors told us that they needed to deliver the baby that day, we knew that we were going to have a long NICU stay. We are very thankful for Milan from the very first time we met her which was right after the delivery of our daughter. Milan was one of the nurses in the room and the nurse that took care of her the first night after she was born.
Milan soon asked to be our daughter's primary nurse. She always made us feel comfortable and encouraged/gave us the confidence to be involved with her cares. She always had time to answer our questions or talk about our concerns. She cared for our daughter as if she was her own. She always kept a close eye on things and was very attentive to the needs of our daughter. Every night that Milan would take care of our daughter we could leave knowing that she was in good hands and it really gave us a sense of peace, I felt like I could sleep better those nights knowing she was watching over her. When our daughter took a turn for the worse Milan was there and stayed well into the morning after her shift just to make sure that we were okay.
Our daughter was in the NICU at St. Davids for almost five months and over those months we really got to know Milan and she has become a great friend throughout that time. When we were transferred to Dell Children's it was very sad leaving knowing that we would probably not find another nurse like Milan.
We have been at Dell Children's a few months now and still keep in touch with Milan frequently. She has come by to visit several times and it is always so nice to have her.
Throughout our NICU journey at St. David's and Dell Children's we have had many great nurses but Milan is definitely one that stands out from the rest.
