My husband and I walked in Labor and Delivery at 5:30 AM to have a scheduled cesarean section delivery. Although we were extremely excited knowing we would be meeting our first-born child that morning, we were also very nervous about how the day would proceed and I was personally very scared about having surgery. As we walked into the department we were immediately acknowledged by a smiling nurse who introduced herself as Michelle. She instantly accompanied us to our pre-surgical room and explained to us how the entire morning would flow. She was happy to answer all the questions my husband and I had. Much to our surprise, she informed us that she would be by our side for the duration of the procedure and again afterwards until we were transported to the 2nd floor. This brought me a great sense of ease knowing I'd see a familiar face the whole morning and would be receiving wonderful continuity of care.

The morning flew by so fast. At 7:45 AM our little girl was brought into this big world. We felt confident the entire time that my life and baby's were in good hands. All along the way we were kept updated about what was happening and what the next step would be. In post-op Michelle was so caring in handling our little girl during her first bath while also monitoring my vital signs to ensure I remained stable, plus she answered all the questions our families had.

At about 1:00 PM we were transported to the 2nd floor. I realized that in a matter of only eight hours my life had been forever changed with this new addition to our family. I want to thank Michelle and CoxHealth for making this huge transition such a great experience for our family.
