Michelle Jordan is a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. Michelle’s compassion for her patients and families is extraordinary. She is always aware of the importance of meeting the emotional and psychological needs. She sets an example of how we can preserve the dignity of our patients while their physical and medical issues are being addressed. Michelle is a leader when it comes to spiritual needs.
Michelle recently reached out to a local priest to be available to a dying patient to represent the patient’s local church. She was able to pull some strings to assure that her patient’s needs were met. She never hesitates to go that extra step for her patients and families. She is a true patient advocate.
Michelle meets all members of the team with enthusiasm and respect. Because she is an astute clinician she can be counted on to use solid problem solving skills to and her resources to get what the patient needs. Michelle is a current student in the Purdue BSN program and used evidenced based knowledge. She has been a strong advocate for initiatives such as hourly rounding, bedside report and journal club. She regularly attends the Magnet meetings and writes heartfelt caring stories that are published in the Magnet Chronicles. Her stories are written with skill and in the spirit of sharing, to make us all reflect on not only the patient’s but also our emotional needs as caregivers.
Congratulations Michelle on the DAISY Award.
