When I was first admitted to Parham's Behavioral Health Unit, I was afraid and felt like there was no hope in my life. Every day seemed to drag on and I felt as though my life was not worth living. The nursing staff was all so kind and understanding but I had a hard time connecting with them and opening up. One night was much harder than the rest though and all I wanted to do was isolate myself. However, just as I was thinking that no one wanted me in this world, Michelle came into my room. The conversation that ensued would change my life forever. Michelle was a beacon of light and hope in my otherwise dark and lonely world. She helped me to realize that I was not a burden to people and that not everything bad that happened in this world was my fault. She helped me to see my own self-worth and restored some of my self-confidence. The advice that she gave me and the materials she provided me with changed my life forever. I don't know if I would still be alive today without her kind words and warm hugs. I will forever be grateful for the impact she has had on my life. To Michelle, a wonderful nurse, but most importantly, a beautiful human, thank you so, so much.
