Michael Kleinfelter is an angel sent from heaven to help people. He not only symbolizes what a compassionate nurse should be, but is equally blessed with exceptional clinical and interpersonal skills. He gives nothing less than extraordinary care and typically goes above and beyond the expectation.
Michael typically starts his day early in preparation for his upcoming shift. Throughout his shift, he is rarely idle and will seek out work in order to keep engaged in the care of his patients. He answers call lights promptly and routinely checks on his colleagues to offer his help. He often stays late to help the oncoming shift. On one occasion, he stayed to help arrange a breakfast meal for a patient and family who had been held in the ED for several hours during the night .
Michael acts as a patient advocate and practices sacred encounters by valuing each and every patient. One night Michael was managing a patient who was experiencing pain. While waiting for the physician to return his call, Michael sat with the patient, holding her tiny hand in his, soothing her with words of comfort and reassurance. Feeling the support Michael was providing, the patient was able to relax and rest easier knowing that someone was by her side.
He is not only an extraordinary nurse but an extraordinary human being as well.
