Melody is one of the most wonderful charge nurses I have ever worked with. She is very responsible for her patients and always tries to help everyone on the floor. On ambulatory floors, we usually have 5 to 6 patients, and I do not know how many times when I have new admissions, Melody always helps me out with the admission process, starts IV, do vital signs, draw labs. I remember there were 3 nurses working on Sunday including Melody, a newly hired nurse, and me; and Melody was a charge nurse and we had no HUC, no PCT on that day. We started the shift with 3 patients/each, but then we had 5 new admissions coming almost the same time at the end of shift. It was a very busy day for 3 nurses. Melody was willing to take 2 new patients, and I took 2, and the other RN took one because she was still was new to be her own. Surprisingly, when I came in the room for my new patients to do admission, Melody was already in the room and was helping to do admission questions. She did whatever she could to help me and my peer out. And, we ended the shift on time and 3 of us were happy because of the great team work. I do not think we could have completed our roles on time without her. Even if she is not a charge nurse, she always offers to help coworkers on the unit. Not only a responsible for the job, she always has a strong compassion for her patients. She puts patient care as a priority and all patients love her. I wish I could work with her all the time!
