Melissa has been a strategic partner in SJH nursing since starting as a new graduate nurse. During her career, she has progressed as a leader from educator, manager, and to her current role as Director of Professional Practice and Magnet Program Director.
Melissa's passion for nursing has led to many accomplishments including strengthening SJH's NSG model, creating an environment of learning through education, developing a simulation lab in partnership with our physicians, traveling to Tanzania to help set up an orientation program for nursing, and assisting with the design of the new Saint Joseph Hospital.
Melissa is a change agent, her unique ability to mentor, inspire, and empower nurses in all stages of their careers has elevated the nursing practice at SJH. Of her countless contributions, what she will be most remembered for is her dedication to our journey to ANCC Magnet designation. Melissa's leadership, vision, and partnership with the teams at SJH led to a successful survey that makes SJH part of the 7% that have received the coveted Magnet designation.
Note: This is Melissa's 2nd DAISY Award!
