Missy Boughrara was the first nurse to care for my husband after his admission from the ED. She got us settled into a double room (unfortunately no private rooms to be had, but happy to be in good hands). But on Monday, his roommate had a medical emergency - lots of people in the room, lots of activity, and sorry to say lots of blood! All of this increased my husband's anxiety and worry about his multiple problems. After he was taken away, Missy said she would try to keep the other bed empty (if she could) so he could rest. While she was not able to keep the bed open for long, we knew she was looking out for him.
For 3 nights she watched over him as if he were her only patient; he wasn't of course, but she made us feel as if he was! While Missy was there, I knew my husband would be getting the best care available! I could tell by her actions she was experienced but had never lost the excitement of following her passion to care for those in need. It might be a small thing, but she even noticed my husband's addiction to MSNBC News. Missy suggested trying channel 40 with beautiful scenery and peaceful music - while he was dozing I changed the channel to 40 and witnessed a change in his breathing pattern and saw him move from fitful sleep to restful sleep. While a small thing, it makes a big difference in healing. Ochsner is fortunate to have Missy on their team!
