Melissa has continuously focused on the Health System Triple Aim Plus goals identifying a concern taking the initiative to work with internal/external customers to resolve the concern. She is committed to making things more efficient for the staff, improving the patient experience, and ensuring that we are delivering quality care. She is constantly reminding everyone of the 4 steps to accountability: If you see it, own it, solve it, do it.
Being very detailed oriented she has identified areas of opportunity to improve processes and procedure to make things more efficient for everyone within the system. She has worked closely with the POCT Quality, EMR and Phone Bank teams to improve process and procedures not only for the staff but for the patient as well. Many of her recommendations have been implemented across the health system. Her professionalism, compassion, and demonstration of empathy with the patients are remarkable. So many of our patients have different socioeconomic barriers and Melissa cares for the whole patient, not just the illness. Many of her patients come in looking for her because they trust that she will take care of them and they listen to her as though she was their doctor.
