Now, thanks to Melanie, Mom is no longer living with constant, almost debilitating back pain.
My 92-year-old Mom was admitted due to pneumonia. It was the first time in over 30 years she had to go to a hospital, so you can imagine how frightened and fearful she was. However, Melanie comforted her and reassured her on a level that was more like family. My sis and I dropped everything and made the 12-hour drive ASAP and while en route, I cannot tell you how much it blessed our hearts to hear mom tell us about the wonderful caring attention she was getting from her nurse named Melanie. She just poured an extra measure of love and kindness right into Mom's heart. My sis and I understood what Mom was talking about as soon as we met Melanie.
For many, many years Mom has suffered from terrible back pain, and in addition to all the other things Melanie was doing for Mom, she was the first person who ever told her about the Lidocaine patch. Now, thanks to Melanie, Mom is no longer living with constant, almost debilitating back pain. Mom thinks Melanie is smarter than the doctors and said she was like having a 3rd daughter. There aren't enough words to express our gratitude for her abundance of kindness, compassion, and caring. Melanie's sweet spirit was so refreshing and was always one of "let me help" and never ever one of "that's the way it is." Many, many thanks from our entire family to Melanie, our hero, and to all the staff at EGH!
