Mel took care of a patient/family in the Cath Lab and heard the next day that the patient took a turn for the worse overnight, requiring emergency open-heart surgery. She visited the family and provided her number for them to call her if they needed anything. She has visited them every day. Pharmacy employee witnessed an exchange between Mel and the family that brought her to tears.
The patient’s condition remains guarded and Mel provided emotional support to the family daily, her phone number, and was hugging each family member. This behavior exemplifies the Mercy mission and she is truly deserving of the DAISY! She has taken time out of her busy schedule to provide support daily to this family, which I am certain is appreciated.
