My dad said, "Thank you, Melanie, you are so good to me!" I felt so happy that he was not upset or afraid during this stay.

My father became ill with an infection. We went to another hospital because he had been there for heart issues a year ago so it was familiar. Unfortunately, he was there for 3 weeks and many things went wrong. He continuously said, "Let me die". He left there and went to rehab only to return to the ER 3 ½ days later. I told the EMTs to take him to Crouse.

My dad got to the 7th floor after being admitted and Melanie was the first nurse we had. She was wonderful. Very attentive to my dad and always asking me and my family if we needed anything. She was so good with my dad. It's a lot for a 91-year-old to go through and to be away from their familiar surroundings. About day 5 at Crouse, Melanie was leaving at the end of her shift and came into the room to say goodbye for the night. My dad said, "Thank you, you are so good to me!" I felt so happy that he was not upset or afraid during this stay.

My dad went from "Let me die" to thanking his nurse and a much-improved outlook and attitude. I am so glad we met Melanie. She made a difference. Several of the other nurses were wonderful too.
