Our daughter, A, has been at CHOP since April in the PICU and on the Pulmonary floor. We have met many lovely nurses during our time here and wish we could thank each of them again. My husband and I would like to make a very special thank you to Meghan McGowan and feel she deserves a DAISY Award.
Meghan took care of A four of her last seven days here at CHOP. She is by far the most competent, caring and intelligent young nurse we have met. My husband and I get the feeling that she could do anything she set her mind to. With unending energy and compassion, she taught my husband and me all our home care requirements, while taking care of A and several other patients. But most importantly, she spent hours across the course of the week tending to my daughter's G/J site which had become so painful in the previous weeks that she'd squeal in pain each time she wretched.
Meghan not only cared for it but also kept trying new things and experiments. She and her night colleague joked that they'd just keep trying until they figured out something that would work. She didn't give up. We hope that such talent and dedication does not go unnoticed by her colleagues here at the hospital and wish to thank her one last time. We'll never forget her and wish her all the best.
