Meghan's assessment skills and quick reaction probably avoided an ICU trip, or worse, the patient's death. She was accompanying a patient to a CT scan (the patient had one chest tube). We got as far as the elevator, noticed the patient's voice change and the appearance of severe chest, neck and eye swelling. She ran the patient back to room, called a CODE. Immediately, our rounding physician and the patient's surgeon were at the bedside inserting a second chest tube emergently. The patient had a massive air leak and subcutaneous air had spread so fast. Her quick reaction made all the difference for the better outcome. She spent well over 2 hours caring for him during and after the episode. Great Job!!
