We received a patient who had just had an abortion due to the baby having a genetic disorder. The surgical team brought the patient up with the six-month-old fetus. The patient wanted to have the fetus baptized, so Megan and the chaplain took the fetus into the soiled utility closet and took the fetus out, cleaned it up wrapped it in a towel and made it presentable for the patient and the patient's family. This was an extremely emotional and traumatic event for us all. This is not something any of us had ever dealt with, having only ever worked with adults. Megan was extremely compassionate and professional in this situation; her leadership was an inspiration to help us all get through this event. She went above and beyond to make sure the patient's needs both physical and emotional were met.
