I would like to say what a wonderful hospital St. Luke's is. Everyone goes that extra step to make sure that you get to where you're going or you have what you need, "5 star" in my mind. Throughout my dad's journey of a triple bypass, the CVICU could be a scary place at times; I was never worried when I left after a visit because I knew he was in good hands.
Then he was transferred to the 9thfloor, and on his first day was when I met Matt. I walked in my dad's room and my dad said, "Wait until you meet my nurse, he's great, and you're going to love him." So in walked Matt and my dad was right. He was so professional, yet we felt like we'd known him forever.
Matt introduced himself, explained exactly what had gone on and what was going to go on, explained his medications, and that he was going to pull out the lines in his neck. But he then told my dad, "You have company now, so enjoy your visit and let me know when the time is right and I will pull out the lines."
I was at ease when I left and was excited for my dad that he had a great nurse. Everyone that was visiting with us mentioned Matt in the elevator. Then the next day we saw Matt on the floor and he came right up to us, and talked and said he hoped he was going to be dad's nurse later. I am so thankful for Matt, and St. Luke's is lucky to have someone so professional, caring, compassionate, and kind. Matt should truly be recognized for going above and beyond.

Matt is my husband's nurse. He always entered the room with a smile. There wasn't a question you could ask him that he didn't answer. He gave us a lot of information and helpful tips. He also gave us a timeline when he would be back to give a pill etc. With the stress on the patient and family, his smile sure was welcome.
