Maryanne is a quiet star and highly sought-after RN preceptor. She has coached many new staff at the bedside to achieve professional proficiency. She mentors new staff long after the "official" preceptorship is over.

Maryanne continues her pursuit of clinical excellence by attending advanced practice seminars, reading current literature and by her collaborative work with physicians.

She is contributing to not only the future of nursing as a profession through her promotion of expert skill acquisition but also to the improvement of health in the greater population.

Maryanne's expertise and knowledge have served many patients directly however even more patients indirectly as she has been instrumental in producing many fine, outstanding nurses.

She is an exemplary leader in the nursing profession.

She is one of the founding members of the unit-based council and has provided her knowledge to many individual projects.

Specifically she assisted in creating unit-based minimum documentation standards for nurses.

Even though it has been two years since the implementation of Epic, nurses continue to have questions about how and when to document specific pieces of information. These minimum charting documents are currently available on the units for staff reference and will be included in the orientation packets for nurses new to the units.

Maryanne is prompt and dependable.

She lives the PCH Customer Service Standards and Behaviors.

She is a go-getter, is self-motivated and seeks improvements.

She collaborates with physicians and other multidisciplinary care providers to ensure the very best outcomes for her patients.

Maryanne has very high standards of care and role-models those behaviors to others.

She recently heard concerns from her co-workers regarding the plan of care for a specific patient as guided by a physician new to PCH. Rather than adding to the confusion or to the speculations, she asked the new provider to explain the plan, as the course was one she was not familiar with, "help me understand" she stated and the new physician taught her (and others who were listening) his rationale and thoughts about the case. She sought to resolve the concern rather than add to it.

Maryanne exemplifies the PCH core values and incorporates the Sisters of Providence mission in her service and excellence.

She is an expert clinician caring for patients and paying particular attention to those who visit them. In particular if this nurse encounters a situation in which she believes more could have been done to help with the overall situation, she seeks advice or requests consultation in an effort to improve not only clinical care but the overall experience for the patient or visitors. Recently she brought forward a clinical situation in which she wondered if nursing could have done more to help the patient. This case has been reviewed and presented to other nurses in an effort to discover more options for future patients in similar situations.

Several of her activities demonstrate her commitment to improving patient outcomes and staff experiences.

Maryanne is a tremendous help at the PCH Skills Update (for nursing) through her teaching at various skill stations. In addition she is a frequent volunteer to assist with educational requests at the unit-level. Her clinical skills are top-notch and she offers her expertise to others.

Her team is confident in her abilities.

Maryanne has exceptional communication skills with all types of people; from student nurses and housekeepers to co-workers and physicians to patients and their visitors.

She is kind and compassionate and has a calm demeanor which helps promote a healing environment.

She precepts and orients many student nurses, residents and new hires and is sought out by many staff to answer questions and provide resources.

Maryanne is recognized as a clinical leader, one who excels in providing staff with the skill set necessary to provide expert care. She has developed skilled staff through her support and nurturing and expert guidance.
