My partner, J, was admitted to ORMC in June 2019 by Dr. D. He "lived" there until being discharged two weeks later. J was pretty sick and needed a lot of attention. He had terrible pain because of a clogged bile duct. He has stage IV pancreatic cancer.

We both wanted to "Thank" every nurse and every NA for always being there for us. We cannot remember every nurse's name, but we need to give a special Thank You to Mary Struk. We feel Mary took care of J like he was a family member. Her thoughtfulness, caring personality and professionalism was beyond anything we could have hoped for. When someone is in a hospital and cannot be with their family every minute of every day all you have to do as a patient is think of your horrible disease. We knew that when Mary was on the day/night shift we always have a sense of relief.

J was admitted again in August 2019 and stayed in the ICU for almost a week, when he was moved back to the cancer floor and was with Mary again! She was his admitting nurse and again we both had such a sense of relief. J and I were so happy to see her smiling face. Mary greeted us with open arms, again like her family.

All of the nurses here work so well with each other. They all listen to the concerns of the patient and their family members. It takes a special person to be a nurse but Mary is one heck of a nurse. Mary goes above and beyond and shows a standard of excellence. Mary provides exceptional patient care.
