Mary joined Providence Medical Center over twenty years ago, initially serving as a mental health technician while attending nursing school. Since becoming a RN, Mary has worked in a variety of staff nurse and leadership positions. Mary received several nominations for the DAISY Award, one from a patient’s family and more from co-workers and her Director. From those nominations:

When you think of this nurse, you immediately think “Extraordinary.”
Extraordinary care of patients
Extraordinary attitude
Extraordinary nurse professional
And an Extraordinary coworker.

This person consistently demonstrates expert skills and critical thinking but what makes this nurse particularly EXTRAORDINARY is this person’s ability to provide the highest levels of compassion and comfort to patients and families throughout their hospitalization.

A patient’s family member recently noted, “Her insights and wonderful sense of humor helped us cope during a very stressful time. Although we are very saddened that our mother did not survive the event she suffered, we would be amiss not to mention the care she received especially from this nurse. She made all the difference in our experience.”

Making the difference is what this remarkable nurse is all about and not just to her patients. Her coworkers noted that this nurse is a team player, always volunteering to help others and always willing to look at new ways of delivering first class care. She was cited as a role model for relationship building, delving into the dynamics of each patient to better understand how to meet their needs and to engage them in their plan of care. This nurse does this so naturally that family members take notice and even noted this on their nomination form, “We also witnessed how many other nurses seek her out as an expert resource.” Without a doubt, this nurse serves as a role model for teamwork and mentoring of new and even very experienced RNs here at Providence.
