Marlene Camp, RN, GI/Special Procedures, UPMC St. Margaret Harmar Outpatient Center, was nominated by her peers for being an exemplary nurse in her field and consistently demonstrating compassion in all that she does every day. Ms. Camp exhibits compassionate care to her patients and uses her GI experience while assisting general surgeons with colonoscopy procedures prior to surgery. She prepares a traveling cart of supplies needed for procedures in the Operating Room, further helping to facilitate the needs of the surgeon and the patient. She also supports the high volume of carpal tunnel procedures performed at Harmar by accompanying patients in and out of the Operating Room. Ms. Camp conducts chart audits to ensure accurate documentation in accordance with UPMC standards and regulatory agencies.

In addition to nursing, Ms. Camp co-chairs the Professional Practice Council at Harmar Outpatient Center, and is manager and treasurer of the Flower Fund, which is an account through the SMMH Federal Credit Union that is used to purchase flowers when a staff member experiences a family death, as well as for staff who undergo surgery. Ms. Camp deposits money from herself and her fellow co-workers into the account.

Ms. Camp actively participates in community initiatives, such as coordinating donation drives at Harmar for the local food bank, Jeremiah's Closet, and the Family House. She also is a participant of UPMC's Life Stages Program. Overall, her performance and dedication is highly commended by UPMC St. Margaret and the UPMC St. Margaret Harmar Outpatient Center.
