I want to specifically call out the night shift RN named Mark on your unit. He was the first person to spend time with us explaining what was going on with our mother. He took the time to break down information into basic terminology instead of medical terms. He made it possible for us to understand what was going on with our mother. We needed this. He connected with our family and made us feel valued. He exceeded our expectations and really took the time to address our needs. This RN was the first person to connect with us after the ED and critical care. He deserves recognition as he really made sure that we all were taken care of. He truly stands out as the best RN in the whole hospital. You can tell that he enjoys his job. His compassion was felt when he walked into my mother's room. We all wish that Mark could be recognized for his care. He is above average from the "general RN". This man truly cares for his patients and their families.

Mark and I work opposite shifts, but I hear from the patients how much they enjoy Mark's bedside manner. Last night, I saw a family be at ease when Mark walked into their room. The family and Mark hugged one another. The family was upset that a procedure was canceled due to another emergency. Mark made that family feel special by making them feel they were a priority. He is one that receives several compliments on our neurology unit. Mark displays compassion to all.
