Our son was admitted with multiple facial fractures that would require surgery. By the time we had received the news and made the trek over from the Westside, our son had already endured significant pain, x-rays, CT scans, and had been admitted to the ICU. He told us later that this was the scariest thing he had ever gone through and we are forever grateful to the amazing first responders and ER staff that cared for him.
Mark greeted us before we saw our son. He showed us x-rays explaining that our son would have facial reconstructive surgery and his jaw would be wired shut for 6 weeks. Our son would also need a tracheotomy. Mark had also notified the college, which I believe is going above and beyond. Mark had such a calming energy. He explained everything clearly and continued to educate us and our son throughout all the days he was in his care. Mark became our rock, our mentor, our friend.
Mark asked if we wanted a chaplain before surgery which gave us such comfort. He was so good with our son. Always patient, caring, and respectful. He took so much time explaining everything and educating us before and after his surgery that we never felt hopeless. We were just so grateful that our son was able to receive treatment from PRH. Dr. G is amazing; he put our son back together. But there is an amazing team behind him, and Mark is one of them. We will always be grateful to them, and to those that make his job possible.
