Mark Strickland took care of my sister. Unfortunately, she treated the nurses with short snappy comments. She had hepatitis and was dying from drug abuse.
He took care of her in a professional caring manner. He took the time to explain things even though my sister was a nurse herself.
Mark went above and beyond to help us understand what the ICU doctor said. She was flown to Methodist Central/University.
Mark went out of his way to be professional, he was patient with her and us.
He put her at ease when he put her on "dialysis" in her room in the ICU. She knew she was dying and she was offered an option of having the transplant team see her but she did not want a transplant. She knew she had hepatitis C and refused to take the treatment her primary care MD offered her.
My sister was angry with the world and everyone in it. Mark somehow helped me make sense of all of the mess, he made it okay for my family and me to be there even when the palliative care nurse practitioner helped us make the decision to honor her wishes and have nothing done. He created a quiet environment for her as they pulled her breathing tube and let her go.
Thank you to Mark Strickland for being kind and compassionate during one of the hardest times in our life. Seeing your sister die is not fun.
