We had a patient recently hospitalized who required hospitalization for just over 100 days. Marina made an extraordinary difference in this patient’s stay. He had some very difficult times when he wasn’t sure he wanted to continue and she spent a tremendous amount of time with him, just letting him talk and per the patient, “she got me through it.” She continued to go out of her way to spend time with this patient and tried to be assigned to his care when she could. On the day prior to discharge, she measured him for new clothes as he had lost a tremendous amount of weight during his hospitalization and went and shopped for him after her shift. She also bought him a cross that he proudly wore on his day of discharge, with his new coral shirt. Marina is always going above and beyond but with this patient, it was truly special.
