I was scared and helpless, but Mariah made sure she knew what was going on with my son to put me at ease while I was in the recovery room.
Mariah was one of the many nurses who took care of me during my stay. Mariah was my night nurse and was with me for my delivery. My delivery story was one I will never forget but the kindness, care, and support I received from Mariah were also things I will never forget.
Due to COVID, I could only have one support person with me so not having my mom in the room with my husband and me was very hard. The way Mariah reassured me and the way she was by my side holding my hand the whole time made me feel like my mom was there. She encouraged me and always had something positive to say. She always made sure I understood what was going on.
I had to have an emergency C-section which resulted in my son not breathing when he came out. I was scared and helpless, but Mariah made sure she knew what was going on with my son to put me at ease while I was in the recovery room. She was more than just a nurse, she felt like family. Being an OSF employee myself, she without a doubt served with the greatest love and care. I honestly could not have done this without her. My husband and I will forever be grateful for such a wonderful nurse like her. When the time comes for another child, I sure hope she is working.
