I want to recognize and give my heartfelt gratitude to this particular nurse who took care of my husband. Russeil is an extraordinary nurse. She had this calming effect on him during the time that he went through his "confusion/restless" episode. She talked to him and tried to re-orient him constantly in her calming and soothing demeanor.
She also reassured me that this "episode" will pass. Russeil encouraged me to sleep and assured me that she will stay in the room and watch my husband closely. She monitored his vital signs diligently and adjusted his "drips" accordingly. When my husband stopped producing urine she was in the room every hour and was genuinely pleased to see some urine in the bag. She always asked me if there's anything I need before she leaves the room. Every hour she turned my husband and rubbed his back and positioned him comfortably.
Russeil was born to be a nurse. She does not realize how special she made us feel. Nursing is not just a career; it's her "calling". It is not just about giving medications, it's the compassion, her ability to empathize, her positive attitude and gracious demeanor that makes her an extraordinary nurse. She deserves this DAISY Award for the way she touches people's lives.
