Following five days of Cladripine infusions in your Oncology Outpatient Department two days at home during which I became dehydrated, physically weak, tremorous, and, unfortunately, irascible, I was admitted to Six East.
Arriving on the floor at shift time my admitting nurse was Maria. During the initial IV and "Texas Catheter" rituals Maria could not have been more patient, kind, and understanding. I realize now that my then mental state was severely compromised.
During the remainder of the shift, her professional nursing approach to her assignment became manifest. At least hourly Maria appeared to fluff my pillow, "check" the IV, adjust the lighting, inquire about the room temperature, or engage in some reassuring conversation.
In short, she made what at its onset had been quite dismal into what for me was almost pleasant.
Please commend Maria for her true professional performance of her nursing duties in a kind, uplifting, and memorable way.
