A patient's spouse wanted to make sure to tell Marguerite how much she appreciated her and the care and kindness she gave to both her and her husband when they were in the ED. Her husband she explained had a sudden bleed in his head, and Meg took care of not only him but also of her. Making sure she was not alone, she was eating and she had what she needed to deal with this horrific situation. Unfortunately, her husband did not survive. She said that Meg sent her a note of condolence. The wife of the patient made sure that I knew the difference Meg made to not only the patients but to the families who were dealing with sudden emergencies and then loss. It was a terrible situation but Meg showed her just how much the UH team does and how much everyone cares. She said that she should have written a note but just never could bring herself to do so, as she is still dealing with the loss of her husband, her best friend. In that conversation, I heard about Meg but also about how much impact is made by the smallest gestures.
