Ms. Mason went above and beyond when caring for a veteran patient from another patient aligned care team (PACT) at the Erie VA. This patient came to our clinic for follow up from an ER visit for gasoline burns to their arm and body. Ms. Mason coordinated follow up with the PACT to get wound care orders and continued to monitor and treat the veteran at the Crawford CBOC until the veteran's burns were healed. Ms. Mason ensured that the veteran did not develop complications from the extensive burns and even came into the clinic on her day off to ensure continuity of care. If Ms. Mason had not used the VA ICARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Advocacy, Respect and Excellence, this veteran could have developed complications requiring hospital stays and this could have even been life threatening for this veteran.
