Malinda Heisey remains calm when her patients are scared and most vulnerable. "As soon as Malinda walked in the door, she had such a positive attitude and beautiful smile," claimed one new mother. She originally planned to have a home birth, but after experiencing a lot of pain, was sent to the hospital by her midwife. Malinda took the time to explain everything and was quick to contact the doctor when she had a genuine concern for the mother's pain. Malinda checked in on her multiple times leading up to her emergency surgery to make sure all her concerns and questions were answered. "The next day she had a student following her, and I know that the student left with so much knowledge and confidence."

A family member for another mother also recognizes Malinda's knowledgeability and attitude. "Malinda was my daughter's nurse for her C-section and had such a gentle demeanor and kind attitude. She explained everything." Malinda instills confidence in her patients and their families. "Not only did Malinda have a great deal of knowledge that she was willing to share, but she was kind, attentive, and quickly able to respond to all of our needs when my daughter was feeling helpless and vulnerable."

Malinda was also an advocate and sense of comfort for a mother delivering at 16-weeks. "I was so scared, but I trusted Malinda to take good care of me the moment I met her," said the mother. Malinda made sure the patient and her husband had time alone when they needed, and acted as the liaison between them and their family members, taking time to introduce herself and explain the plan to them.
"I cried after Malinda left Saturday night and I told her that I wanted her to be the one there when I delivered. She told me she had to leave, but she introduced the new nurse for the evening and when I asked her if she could be my nurse again the next day, she said that should would ask to have me back as her patient. This made me feel like I was treated like one of her own family members. I delivered my baby early in the morning and cried tears of joy when Malinda was the nurse that walked into my room the next morning. She brought such a sense of peace and comfort with her."

"Malinda was an angel," said one mother, "and I will never forget the way that she cared for me in such a difficult time in my life."
