Magen Carpenter is a patient advocate. She takes charge of her patient's care. One patient was heard to say, "Who put you in charge?" To which she replied, "I am in charge of you this shift." The patient asked, "Are you the police?" She said, "Yes, I am the police and I am taking care to keep you safe this shift." She sets limits for her patients, and there is a cooperative mutual respect in return. She played ball with a fidgety patient, playing catch to provide a diversion to keep him from pulling on tubes - and thus keeping him out of restraints.
Magen has been mentioned as going above and beyond in service in eight different surveys in 2015 Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction surveys with comments - ""she is great", "she is super good", "a very good nurse."

One family member was about to have a self -reported "nerve attack" when her husband had a crisis. She then calmed down and was so grateful that Magen "was in charge" of her husband's care, calling physicians, administering blood and monitoring the patient during diagnostic tests.

Magen is a veteran nurse whose experience, skill-set, and dedication was beyond reproach. She understood my struggle to overcome my condition, and ministered and served the whole person, spirit, body and soul, utilizing knowledge from her years of experience. She was never cross or appeared tired. I will be forever grateful to her for touching my life. She was my lifeline during the most difficult time in my life. She made a difficult situation a little easier by caring and her ability to function as a team member to ensure a positive outcome for me and my family. This was above what anyone could ever ask. Our family thanks you and we will keep you in our hearts, and always in our prayers.
