Mackenzie is an extraordinary nurse who not only teaches student nursing clinicals, but practices what she preaches when working on 7JCP-RSCCU as a staff nurse. She consistently demonstrates a holistic approach to patient care as she tends to mind, body, and spirit.
Recently she cared for a patient who, due to their state of health, had been unable to bathe in a shower or tub for quite some time. During her shift, she made arrangements to take them up to the burn unit where she, with considerable effort, was able to bathe them. Afterwards, the patient was so grateful and impressed that she would take the time and effort to take on such a task. The patient stated that it had been six years since they were able to experience what most people consider a daily event. Their sense of dignity was boosted and they felt respected and cared for. This is just one example of how Mackenzie puts her patients' needs first.
