I am going to turn 73 years old in 1 month. I have many illnesses with COPD being my worst. Why? I have smoked for 56 years and now I am paying the price. I've tried many times to quit. Two years ago, I quit for three weeks and felt worse for quitting so I went back to smoking. I knew my physician wanted me to quit. The next year, I was in the hospital five times with heart and lung trouble. I was so sick but still smoking.
One day, I got to see Lynn Braun because my physician wasn't in the office. Lynn was so compassionate and caring. I told her I tried to quit but felt worse. Lynn sat with me and explained the truth to me. She told me that I would feel worse for three or four months before I start getting better. She took so much time to talk to me. I knew when I left her office I would stick it out to get better. It was painful for four months but I am better now. It has been 11 months since my last cigarette! I owe my bravery to Lynn's care and helpfulness. My 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren thank you! I have a new friend and I will live longer. Bless you, Lynn, for caring.
