I have worked with Sister Louise for the last 13 years - the whole of my years as a Trauma nurse. Meeting and working with her on my first shift as an agency nurse, she made a huge impression on me. She was so welcoming and supportive that I decide to become a Trauma nurse. I joined Louise's ward team where she was my team leader. She quickly became my 'role model'. The professionalism she showed me, her caring attitude to patients and relatives and the dedication she put into her work as a senior nurse were some of the reasons why I still consider her my role model.
After a few years, she became our Ward Sister. She is the coolest, most approachable and most supportive leader I have ever had. I'm sure my colleagues will agree with me when I say she values us and all the work we do. Louise knows how to encourage her staff, and we all, in turn, want to stay working on her ward and be the best nurses we can.
All the years I have worked with her, I have noticed she has not been off sick or absent from work. Human as we are, Sister Louise always makes sure her work is her priority and perfectly knows how to balance her personal and professional life. She always remains calm and can work with grace under pressure.
When I moved into a deputy sister role she guided and supported me to be effective and efficient in my role and to maximize my leadership potential. She has shown me sincere concern and support during challenging times, going out of her way to help me and make me feel comfortable, knowing and understanding what I have gone through.
Sister Louise is a caring, compassionate nurse, an effective manager, and a true leader!
