When most people think of nurses, they think of their compassion, their caring nature, and sympathy for others. They are also advocates for their patients. Sometimes they are just "there", taking the extra time and effort to offer support when needed.
In previous roles, Lorre was often mentioned in patient remarks as being kind and having a great bedside manner. She took the time to truly listen to patients and address their needs, whether they were communicated or by reading between the lines.
In her current role, as a patient navigator, she is frequently with patients who do not have their basic needs covered and do not have adequate resources. She is very considerate and understanding. She is inspired to spend additional time exhausting all options to help, not just because of her nursing profession, but also because of her beliefs.
Lorre went far above and beyond in caring for one of our own employees, who passed away in late 2018. She coordinated everything with their care, including with specialists, and also went to their house routinely to check on them. She assisted in getting them set up for government programs. When their house caught on fire, she took it upon herself to start a collection and set them up in a hotel. She helped take care of all of the details they were unable to themselves. She had made plans for a pitch-in dinner on-site so they would not be alone for the holidays. She did this because she wanted to help, not as part of her job.
