This poem serves as our formal recognition
For a woman of style and great compassion
She is 6 Marian's ultimate warrior.
Her name is Lori Van Bever.
We are not poets, we do not do rhymes.
We need inspiration even from mimes.
But for this special day, there is no excuse,
Oh heck! Let's just do some Dr. Seuss.
So what makes Lori a good leader?
Is it because she is nice and eager?
Let's all just stop and think.
Face it, it helps that she doesn't stink.
On the unit, there are Grinches and Slumpers,
She knows a Thing or Two about such characters
There are Yertles, Sneetches, and Nizzards.
Dealing with all of these, she beats all wizards!
She is as honest as Horton the elephant,
With issues that are relevant,
She's a person of her word.
Her quiet strength can be heard.
And just like Horton, she is quick to praise.
She motivates us to step up the pace.
On our unit, you'll notice a special type of bond.
For her, we would always go above and beyond.
Don't give up! I believe in you all.
A person's a person, no matter how small!
And you very small persons will not have to die
if you make yourselves heard. So, come on, now, and TRY! (Horton Hears a Who)
She is the Lorax, who speaks for the trees.
She stands up for us. She puts us at ease.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better. It's not. (The Lorax)
She's more than a Nurse Manager. She is the Cat in the Hat.
She juggles work, family, school, and this and that.
I can hold up the cup and the milk and the cake!
I can hold up these books and the fish on a rake!
I can hold the toy ship and a little toy man!
Look, with my tail, I can hold a red fan!
I can fan with the fan as I hop on the ball!
But that is not all. (The Cat in the Hat)
It has not been an easy 2017.
Personally, and professionally, we were tested as a team.
Sometimes with a voice that's stern and sometimes just a smile that's subtle,
She lets us know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Then, just when I thought I could stand it no more,
By chance, I discovered a tiny trap door!
I popped my head out. The great sky was sky-blue and I knew,
From the flowers, I'd finally come through to the banks of the beautiful River Wah-Hoo! (I had trouble in getting to Solla Sollew)
She is the Grinch. No, she's not green and cranky.
She adapts and motivates when our HCAHPS were funky.
"All I need is a reindeer..." The Grinch looked around.
But, since reindeer are scarce, there was none to be found.
Did that stop the old Grinch? No! The Grinch simply said,
"If I can't find a reindeer, I'll make one instead!"
So he called his dog, Max. Then he took some red thread,
And he tied a big horn on the top of his head. (How the Grinch Stole Christmas)
Finally, she is without a doubt,
The first to believe in Sit Down to Stand Out.
Will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed!
Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed. (Oh, the places you'll go!)
And now our last quote from Dr. Seuss,
We hope this will help you to choose:
There are so many things you can learn about,
but You'll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut. (I can read with my eyes shut)
