A patient in our wound clinic was seen and then was waiting in the ED entrance for his ride. After talking with the patient, it was discovered that he had been waiting for an hour for his ride and clearly his ride was not coming. The patient had trouble caring for himself and had some cognitive issues. Lori recognized this and quickly acted. She unloaded items out of her vehicle and gave the patient a ride home. He lived approximately one hour away. On the following Monday, Lorie made calls on the patient's behalf to VNA working with him to coordinate wound care at home for the patient's benefit and safety. This is just one of the many things and deeds that Lori does daily.
Lori treats our patients with the utmost respect and care. She listens and gives the patients her full attention. I have seen her sit with patients who may have personal issues and just be an ear to them and help them figure out a plan so they can receive proper care at home. She goes out of her way to contact home services to ensure patients are safe and cared for at home. Lori is kind, compassionate and truly one amazing nurse. I am lucky to work with her.
