I have witnessed Lori on several occasions with her compassion and caring for her patients. One instance I vividly remember was when a patient arrived in our outpatient setting for a procedure on his leg. He was in a wheelchair, had a friendly spirit but was noticeably hygienically challenged. I observed her care for him over the course of his stay. Lori treated him with compassion, kindness, and respect not letting his challenge sway or deter her. During his admission for the outpatient procedure, discussion with his doctor revealed that the patient was in consideration for cancellation due to an infection (a weeping wound on his leg) brought to his attention by Lori which was previously unknown to the doctor. This never deterred her from his care. She and another nurse gave him a bed bath, not typical of an outpatient setting, but all the while maintaining his dignity and treating him with respect. As I had an opportunity to interact with him later before he was dismissed, I got the sense that the care he was receiving not only made him happy but showed him he was important.
Another example, Lori's assignment of the day included a couple of patients who required extra emotional care and physical care. Both had multiple requests throughout the shift. As a nurse, I know that one person who requires heightened emotional and physical care with extra requests can be taxing and can make for a hard and stressful day. Never did she deter from their care, all the while meeting their requests with kindness and action.
Lori goes above and beyond, is compassionate and energetic. Creates a sense of family and importance. Is kind and sincere, trustworthy and is passionate about her job as a nurse.
