When my daughter's birthday came around, she was in the hospital with no sign of when she could be discharged. Lori made sure that this day was special.
Our daughter came into the hospital with a brain tumor. Her first surgery to remove the tumor was in October. The days that ensued after surgery were unimaginable. Our once smiling and boisterous daughter was left silent and motionless. We met nurse Lori in the NSICU. She came in with a very positive attitude and was always very professional.
Lori truly cared for our daughter. She would talk to her and touch her face, hand, or arm. When my daughter would begin to focus or make grunting sounds, Lori seemed to understand exactly what the sounds meant. I observed as the grunts turned into words and realized an unspoken friendship had been formed. My daughter began to smile when she saw Lori.
When my daughter's birthday came around, she was in the hospital with no sign of when she could be discharged. Lori made sure that this day was special. She knew my daughter was a big Alabama football fan. She arranged for a former quarterback now color commentator to surprise her with a visit complete with an autographed helmet.
Lori also managed to get a former safety to send her a happy birthday video from the Alabama sidelines during a game. That was not all. She even had two local radio hosts give her shout-outs and sent video messages of encouragement and prayers. There are numerous other things that Lori did to help our daughter regain her smile and confidence including candy surprises, bringing in stylish toboggans from home, and more. Lori is the most caring nurse I have ever met. We have been treated with an immeasurable amount of compassion throughout our long stay. Our family will forever be grateful for having met her. Thank you for everything you have done for our daughter and family.
