Lora has the unique ability to connect with her patients in any situation. She takes care of their emotional, physical and spiritual health holistically. Lora exemplified the core value of compassion. Lora has taken on as a lead of the Emergency Department Trauma Council. Lora researches and plans monthly meetings to help educate her fellow coworkers about certain topics of interest from her peers.
When Lora is working a trauma patient she uses clear communication to advocate for her patients. She takes the time to talk them through the plan of care as well and what is to come. This takes a very special nurse to coordinate all the needs of the physician and physical care the patient needs as well as the compassion of the patient's situation to make them feel valued and taken care of on an emotional level. When Lora feels that something is not correct, she stops and advocates for changes in care or escalations in care when needed. Lora is truly the voice for her patients.
In addition to all this Lora has been a preceptor for our new grads. Lora takes time outside of work to prepare for her new students, she takes notes and writes down things she wants to accomplish with each resident. Lora has been in this department about 1.5 years and has grown in her ability to mentor and take on projects to care for our patients in the best way possible. Lora's heart truly is here for her team and patients. We are beyond blessed she has chosen us as her team.
