Liz Haugen's is the first face our patients and families see when they are coming into our unit.
Liz is consistently demonstrating kindness, caring and compassion for our patients and families. As the charge nurse, I regularly get positive feedback during rounding on her care and bedside manner. I have personally seen her handle everything from an unexpected delivery, to a preterm baby, transports, and a myriad of every OB emergency you can imagine.

One case in particular was Liz recognizing and caring for a very critical patient, and while handling all of the tasks relating to her care, also taking time to care for her family members and children who were also present. She developed a relationship with the family, even during the critical events that were unfolding on a rapid basis, giving a hug, being tender with the family.

Liz is an expert in OB. She is certified in Inpatient OB, and regularly keeps updated on her educational requirements for her job. She is well respected and valued by her peers and physicians alike.

Liz also was a leader in the implementation of EPIC during the summer. She rapidly became the go to person for our OB ED department and she quickly adapted and made suggestions for workflow improvements and was instrumental in helping other nurses and doctors learn.

Liz has personally handled several extreme emergencies recently in our OB ED department, situations you may (hopefully) see only once in your career. She has handled them calmly, and with extreme competence, working with our OB team and hospitalist in a very positive collaborative manner.
