I'd like to nominate Lisa Rubinski, RN on East 2 at Kootenai Health, for the DAISY Award. She provided kind, respectful and compassionate care for my dad and the extended family during his recent hospital stay for newly diagnosed glioblastoma and craniotomy. Lisa was attentive to dad's physical and emotional needs and patiently answered many questions from our family without making us feel she was in a hurry. Dad was struggling with word-finding and slow to speak- she patiently listened and allowed him the time he needed to express himself. Her calm, comforting demeanor and sense of humor put us at ease. We felt a special connection in sharing memories of time spent in the Lewiston, Idaho area.
While not everyone who cared for dad agreed with his choice to have surgery, Lisa sat at his bedside the night before and offered assurance that he was in good hands. Lisa is a true patient advocate and extraordinary nurse providing patient and family-centered care. Lisa made a sad and difficult time more tolerable for us and Kootenai is fortunate to have her on staff.
