Lisa was the nurse that I had for a few of her shifts while I was in labor and delivery a month ago. She was the most calm, reassuring individual in a situation that could have been overwhelming and anxiety ridden due to a life threatening medical complication. Not once throughout my experience in Labor and Delivery did she indicate that I was in trouble; she was calm and collected, putting myself and my husband at ease and expressing great compassion regarding a challenging situation of my own health and unborn baby's health. She was able to explain the choices I had regarding our care and when she was done with her shifts, there was no gap in care due to her exceptional communication skills with the nurses that followed her.
Lisa spent two whole days with me, including starting challenging treatment to control a potentially lifethreatening medical complication, my time in the OR during and emergency C-section, and bringing me to the NICU to see my baby for the first time, 24 hours after he was born. Though for her this was just part of doing her job, for me, she was my stability throughout a chaotic few days. She remained positive and upbeat throughout my care which was greatly needed in a time of intense stress. I truly feel lucky that she was my nurse for some of my stay at Princeton and that I was the recipient of her exceptional care!
