Lisa is always 110% supportive of our staff and patients. She comes in early so that night shift gets the love it needs and stays late. If we have questions, she goes above and beyond to find the answers. She's receptive to new education topics and makes sure we all feel confident in the care we're providing. She is relentless in making sure our patients are safe and happy.
Lisa is the CNS of B6 and is truly one of the most selfless and kindest individuals I have ever met. That old saying about one giving the "shirt off their backs to help someone in need" fits Lisa to a T. I was fortunate to be assigned Lisa as my preceptor when I transitioned into my role as a CNS for B5 so I have experienced Lisa's kindness, compassion, and integrity first hand. She is an amazing nurse and person foremost and therefore she inspires her coworkers, staff, and peers because she models all those behaviors in herself and her life values.
I got very sick last year and was out of work for 2 months; Lisa just stepped right up and made sure that B5 was ok with any new roll-outs in education and she finished the orientations of 2 nurses on my unit, all without anyone asking, she just did it. This is a very small and isolated example of Lisa's kindness and daily thoughts of others and their well-being.
Lisa always goes above and beyond for her staff, her coworkers and most importantly the patients. Whether it is helping wash a patient up, taking someone to the bathroom, helping give blood or medications, or just advocating with the doctors on a patients' behalf, Lisa is always concerned for and looking out for patients' safety, comfort and care. It is for these reasons that I nominate Lisa Cassia for a DAISY Award, not for 1 extraordinary thing that she does or did but because she does extraordinary things daily and not for any reason other than it is just who she is as a person and a nurse!
