...Lindsey is always respectful to patients and staff. She handles emergencies professionally and calmly. She is able to handle difficult families amicably and with ease. Lindsey is also compassionate. She goes above and beyond to make sure her staff knows they are special. She writes hand-written letters to thank them for their hard work and passion for their jobs. It is very important to her that her nurses know how much they mean to her, and it shows.

She is compassionate with the patients, as well. She received a guardian angel award from a patient who specifically said her compassion touched them. Lindsey also promotes collaboration among nurses, doctors, and patients. She has implemented many processes to make this collaboration easy. Examples include a "potty training" board in the staff bathroom on which is teaching that doctors have asked us to brush up on, a bedside checklist to make sure each patient is in order when bedside rounding is completed for nurse-to-nurse report, and daily goals posters for each patient's room to help nurses communicate expectations to the patients. She has even printed a "what to expect" handout for all patients to help them to understand post-op care on STU and why it's done. All of these collaborative efforts have increased patient satisfaction, and patients have expressed positive feedback about these changes. Additionally, Lindsey exemplifies courage. She is currently in her first management position and jumped right in. She has made many positive changes to our unit without batting an eye. She has courageously taken on managing a 14 bed unit and 25(+) employees.

Lastly, Lindsey demonstrates justice. She seeks the common good, provides for those in need, and acts responsibly. One example of Lindsey providing for those in need is for a patient who has been on STU for approximately 3 months. The patient was going to be spending her birthday in the hospital and was feeling down. Lindsey took it upon herself to make sure the patient had a gift and a card signed by everyone on the unit. This patient was so grateful for her thoughtfulness, and the card brought tears to her eyes. In addition to exuding all of these core values, she works closely with her staff and helps in any way she can. She helps to coordinate proper care in a timely manner. She assists in admissions and discharges to make sure everything is done quickly, which is a huge help to the nurses. Lindsey isn't scared to stand up for her nurses and will do what is needed to make sure everything is in order. Lindsey has a wonderful attitude and works well with everyone she meets. She is an extremely hard worker, often staying late to make sure her nurses and patients are taken care of. She seeks further education for the greater good of the unit.
